Did you have a quiet week off?

We had a mixed week sailing back from Falmouth to Topsham. Some overly windy days kept us in the rivers; Fal, Truro, Lyhner, Dart, Exe but we did get in some good sailing along the coast as well.

My week off was wiped out by the final arrival of the missing 10 solar panels. So the week went like this;

  • Sunday - see off the guests then strip off the existing solar array and prep the base for a new cladding

  • Monday- take delivery of panels and plywood, lay 12 mm marine ply across top deck

  • Tuesday - resin ply and fill joints etc.

  • Wednesday - paint with two coats of two pack polyurethane.

  • Thursday - rain and a day off!

  • Friday - fit and connect up all 20 panels

  • Saturday - provisioning and get boat ready for guests

On the plus side the panels are generating enough power to run the washer drier, oven, dishwasher; without any shore power top up. So well worth the effort, and the final element of our decarbonisation plan complete.

The next guests arrive in one hours time and all is ready including a freshly baked orange polenta cake and some awesome fish (brill, hake, monkfish, smoked haddock and salmon) fresh from Brixham this morning.

And I mustn't miss the 'call to action' so we do have some places left on our coastal and Scillies trips so if you are still wondering what adventure to have this summer why not book a place.
